Course Overview: This live, two-day, in-depth FEES training course provides the learner with a strong frame-work from which to begin one's FEES competency training. On day one, the learner will receive instruction on the history of FEES, indications for FEES, patient selection, nasal/pharyngeal/laryngeal anatomy, normal and disordered swallow physiology as seen during FEES, endoscope handling and disinfection, the FEES procedure, protocols and much more. As part of the hands-on training portion, the learner will be taught proper endoscope handling and body mechanics, optimal passage of an endoscope while maintaining patient comfort, proper endoscope positioning prior to and after presentation of a po trial, as well as practice interpreting swallow findings. Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the Speech Pathologist will: 1. Interpret normal and disordered anatomy as seen on FEES 2. Summarize the physiological underpinnings of the swallow as seen on FEES 3. Define basic definitions of swallowing function and pathophysiology as used during a FEES procedure 4. Summarize the components of FEES equipment and endoscope types 5. Summarize benefits of protocols and rating scales for the completion and interpretation of FEES assessments 6. Interpret normal swallowing events vs presbyphagia, vs dysphagia as seen on FEES Registration must be made by July 1, 2024. No refund will be given after this date. Registration, less 20% administrative charge, is refundable if written cancellation is received up to one week (7 days) prior to the conference (7/6/24). Refunds will be minus the cost of the provided E-book (if received prior to cancelation). We reserve the right to cancel or change the program for due cause. Cancellation by Dysphagia Evaluation Specialists will result in a full refund of registration. Registration will close if room capacity is reached.
